Raw reader observations are evidence; normalized events are business records. Keep that boundary visible so data quality, retries, exceptions and ownership can be tested before a workflow posts to another system.

Preserve the raw observation
Retain the identifier, read point, timestamp and diagnostic context needed to explain what the reader observed, subject to the project data policy. Do not overwrite evidence merely because an observation is later rejected, grouped or normalized.
02 / FIELD NOTE
Define the event contract
Specify the item or load unit, location, direction, trigger, expected state, business action and required fields for each event type. Give every field, rule and failure path a named owner before an integration consumes it.
03 / FIELD NOTE
Bound aggregation and deduplication
State which repeated observations belong to the same operating event, the time and location boundary that applies, and the condition that closes the event. A tag visible at a read point is not automatically a new movement, count or confirmation.

Make delivery intentional
Assign a stable event identifier or equivalent control where the receiving system needs replay protection. Record how delayed, repeated, out-of-order and failed deliveries are detected, retried and reconciled without silently creating a second transaction.

Expose exception states
Keep rejected, delayed, duplicate, unmatched and uncertain events visible to the person responsible for recovery. The queue should show the evidence, reason, current owner and next action instead of hiding uncertainty behind a successful reader connection.
06 / FIELD NOTE
Set retention and access rules
Define who may view, export, correct or delete raw and normalized data, and how long each record class is retained. Test diagnostic access and recovery with representative failures before relying on the event stream operationally.
