Clear language helps operations, IT, procurement and suppliers make the same decision. Use these terms as a shared starting point, then confirm the selected configuration and project meaning before implementation.
01 / FIELD NOTE
EPC
Electronic Product Code: an identifier field commonly used to distinguish tagged objects in a UHF RFID workflow. Define how it maps to the item record and packaging hierarchy rather than treating the identifier as the complete business record.
02 / FIELD NOTE
Inlay
The RFID antenna and chip assembly inside a label or tag construction. The finished tag also depends on its substrate, housing, attachment, item surface and operating conditions.
03 / FIELD NOTE
Read zone
The physical area where a reader is intended to capture tags for a defined event. A useful zone includes a boundary, movement, trigger and rule for separating intended from incidental observations.
04 / FIELD NOTE
Antenna
A component that couples the reader to the operating field. Position, orientation, mounting, cable arrangement and the surrounding environment belong in the same installation review.
05 / FIELD NOTE
Reader observation
A raw signal or tag report produced by a reader. It is evidence for processing, not automatically a confirmed receipt, movement, count or other business transaction.
06 / FIELD NOTE
Normalized event
A structured business-facing event created after observations are filtered, interpreted and checked against identity, location, timing and workflow state.
07 / FIELD NOTE
Middleware
The software layer that filters, normalizes, validates and routes reader events to business systems. Keep rejected, delayed and duplicate observations available for diagnosis according to the project data policy.
08 / FIELD NOTE
Encoding
The process of writing or assigning an identifier or other approved tag data before the tag enters a workflow. Define ownership, validation, access controls and recovery for a failed or partial operation.
09 / FIELD NOTE
Proof of concept
A bounded test used to learn whether a proposed item, tag, reader, zone and system workflow can meet a stated project need. It becomes useful when samples, conditions, measures and exceptions are recorded.
010 / FIELD NOTE
Exception path
The action and system state used when an expected identity is missing, duplicated, unexpected, delayed or otherwise uncertain. A workflow is incomplete when it describes only the normal event.
Bring your material, movement, target read and system context to a sample or quote request.
